Ciclosporin
Indications/Uses
Treatment of severe keratitis in adult patients w/ dry eye disease, which has not improved despite treatment w/ tear substitutes.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 drop once daily, to be applied to the affected eye(s) at bedtime.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Active or suspected ocular or peri-ocular infection.
Special Precautions
Use w/ caution in patients w/ history of ocular herpes. Remove contact lenses before instillation of the eye drops. Exercise caution when concomitantly used w/ β-blockers in glaucoma patients. May affect host defenses against infections & malignancies. Contains cetalkonium Cl which may cause eye irritation. Not recommended in women of childbearing potential not using effective contraception. Moderate influence on the ability to drive & use machines. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Instillation site pain. Erythema of eyelid, lacrimation increased, ocular hyperaemia, vision blurred, eyelid oedema, conjunctival hyperaemia, eye irritation, eye pain; instillation site irritation, erythema, & lacrimation.
Drug Interactions
Co-administration of corticosteroids could potentiate the effects on immune system.
