Indications/Uses
Treatment of MI w/in 6 hr after onset of symptoms.
Dosage/Direction for Use
IV inj only. >90 kg 10,000 u, 80-90 kg 9,000 u, 70-80 kg 8,000 u, 60-70 kg 7,000 u, <60 kg 6,000 u.
Contraindications
Bleeding disorder or haemorrhage, cerebrovascular event, uncontrolled HTN, head injury, severe liver disease, peptic ulcer, oesophageal varices, blood vessel abnormalities, certain tumours, pericarditis, endocarditis, concomitant use w/ anticoagulants, pancreatitis, recent major surgery, including brain or spinal surgery, CPR for >2 min duration in the last 2 wk.
Special Precautions
HTN, cerebrovascular disease, GI or GUT tract bleeding w/in the last 10 days, heart valve abnormality w/ arrhythmias, IM inj in the last 2 days. Elderly >75 yr or <60 kg. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Very Common: Bleeding. Common: Bleeding at inj site, nosebleed, GU tract bleeding, bruising, GI bleeding. Uncommon: Cardiac arrest, retroperitoneal bleeding, cerebral haemorrhage. Rarely, pulmonary haemorrhage, anaphylactoid reactions, haemopericardium, pulmonary embolism. Uncommon: Eye haemorrhage.
