Dopamine HCl
Indications/Uses
Correction of hemodynamic imbalances present in the shock syndrome due to MI, trauma, endotoxic septicemia, open heart surgery, renal failure, chronic cardiac decompensation, CHF.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Individualised dosage. Administration rate begins at 2-5 mcg/kg/min; in more serious patients, increase dose gradually using 5-10 mcg/kg/min. May increase gradually up to 20-50 mcg/kg/min or more as the clinical situation dictates.
Contraindications
Phaeochromocytoma.
Special Precautions
Uncorrected tachyarrhythmias or ventricular fibrillation, hypovolemia. Previous treatment w/ MAOIs. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Ectopic beats, nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, anginal pain, dyspnea, headache, hypotension, vasoconstriction, bradycardia, piloerection, azotemia, elevated BP.

MAOIs.
