Lincomycin HCl
Indications/Uses
Serious infection of the resp tract, skin & soft tissue, bone & joint due to gm+ve susceptible strains of Strep, pneumococci, Staph, bacteroides & clostridia.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Mild infection: 500 mg 3 times daily. Severe infection: 500 mg 4 times daily. Childn >1 mth 30-60 mg/kg daily in 3-4 divided doses.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals w/ a full glass of water.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to lincomycin & clindamycin. Patients in diarrheal state.
Special Precautions
Impaired hepatic or renal function. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
GI disturbances, diarrhea, pruritus, rash & urticaria.
