Levofloxacin hemihydrate
Indications/Uses
Acute maxillary sinusitis, acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, uncomplicated skin & soft tissue infections, complicated UTI, acute pyelonephritis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
250-500 mg orally once daily for 7-14 days. Patient w/ impaired kidney function w/ CrCl 20-49 mL/min Initially 500 mg then 250 mg 24 hrly; CrCl 10-19 mL/min, hemodialysis & CAPD patient Initially 500 mg then 250 mg 48 hrly.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Ensure adequate fluid intake.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Known or suspected CNS disorders. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn & adolescent.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, nausea, vaginitis, flatulence, itching, skin eruption, abdominal pain, insomnia, taste disturbance, vomiting, anorexia, anxiety, constipation, edema, tiredness, headache, sweating, leucorrhea, malaise, nervousness, sleep disturbances, trembling, urticaria.
Drug Interactions
Al- or Mg-containing antacids, Fe-containing drugs; antidiabetic agents.
