Brinzolamide
Indications/Uses
Elevated IOP in ocular HTN or open-angle glaucoma.
Dosage/Direction for Use
1 drop into affected eye bd. Max: Not to exceed 1 drop tds.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Hyperchloraemic acidosis. Severe renal impairment.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if serious reactions or hypersensitivity occurs. Risk of metabolic acidosis. Patients w/ compromised corneas eg, w/ DM or corneal dystrophies; low endothelial cell count. Avoid contact w/ soft contact lenses. Remove contact lenses prior to application & wait at least 15 min before reinsertion. Acid-base disturbances w/ oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. Renal impairment.
Adverse Reactions
Blurred vision, eye irritation & pain, ocular discomfort & hyperaemia, dysgeusia.
Drug Interactions
Potential additive effect w/ oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitor.
