Sitagliptin phosphate monohydrate
Indications/Uses
Adjunct to diet & exercise to improve glycemic control in adults w/ type 2 DM.
Dosage/Direction for Use
100 mg once daily as monotherapy or in combination therapy. Patient w/ moderate renal insufficiency (CrCl ≥30 to <50 mL/min) 50 mg once daily. Patient w/ severe renal insufficiency (CrCl <30 mL/min), end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis 25 mg once daily.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Type 1 DM, diabetic ketoacidosis.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if pancreatitis occurs. Hypoglycemia. Patients w/ renal insufficiency. Not recommended during pregnancy. Do not use during lactation. Childn <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Hypoglycemia, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia, flatulence; hypersensitivity; exfoliative skin conditions including Stevens-Johnson syndrome; flu, headache, cutaneous vasculitis, acute pancreatitis; worsening renal function; upper resp tract infection, nasopharyngitis; constipation.
Drug Interactions
Slight increase in AUC & mean peak drug conc of digoxin.
