Bleomycin sulfate
Indications/Uses
Squamous cell carcinoma (head, neck, penis, cervix, vulva); Hodgkin's/non-Hodgkin's disease; testicular carcinoma. Malignant pleural effusion & prevention of recurrent pleural effusion.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Squamous cell carcinoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease, testicular carcinoma 0.25-0.50 u/kg or 10-20 u/m2 IV/IM/SC wkly or twice wkly. Maintenance dose for Hodgkin's disease: 1 u daily or 5 u wkly IV/IM. Malignant pleural effusion 60 u as a single bolus dose.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Renal or pulmonary impairment. Lactation. Childn.
Adverse Reactions
Severe interstitial pneumonia, pulmonary fibrosis; hypotension, mental confusion, fever, chills, wheezing; erythema, rash, vesiculation, hyperpigmentation, tenderness of skin, hyperkeratosis, nail changes, alopecia, pruritus, stomatitis; vomiting, anorexia, wt loss, pain at tumor site, phlebitis.
Drug Interactions
Vascular toxicities in combination w/ other antineoplastic agents.
