Cinnarizine
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment of nausea & vertigo caused by Meniere's disease & other vestibular disorder. Prevention & treatment of motion sickness. Peripheral & cerebral vascular disorder.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cerebral circulation disorder 1 cap daily or 1-2 tab tid. Peripheral circulation disorder 1 cap daily or 1-3 tab tid. Vestibular disturbances 1 cap daily or 1 tab tid. Motion sickness 1 cap daily up to a max of 225 mg daily or ½-1 tab before traveling, repeated every 6 hr.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Special Precautions
Premature infants or neonates. May suppress cutaneous histamine response to allergen extr & should be discontinued several days before skin testing.
Drug Interactions
May enhance sedative effects of CNS depressants including alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, opioid analgesics, anxiolytic sedatives & antipsychotics. Additive antimuscarinic action w/ other antimuscarinic drugs eg, atropine & some antidepressants. Hazardous ventricular arrhythmias w/ nonsedating antihistamines astemizole & terfenadine. May mask warning signs of damage caused by ototoxic drugs eg, aminoglycosides.
