Clobetasol propionate
Indications/Uses
Short-term treatment of more resistant dermatoses eg, psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis), recalcitrant eczema & other conditions which do not respond satisfactorily to less active steroids.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply a small quantity to the affected area once-bid. Max: 2-4 wk.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Do not use for the treatment of rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, perianal & genital pruritus. Primary cutaneous viral infections (eg, Herpes simplex, chickenpox). Dermatoses in childn <1 yr including dermatitis & napkin eruptions. Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Avoid long-term use. The face may exhibit atrophic changes after prolonged treatment. Ensure that the prep does not enter the eye. Patients w/ psoriasis.
Adverse Reactions
Skin atrophy especially w/ occlusion or skin fold, hypercorticism, hypersensitivity.
