Adult
Initially 40 mg once daily. May increase to 80 mg in patients who do not achieve a serum uric acid of <6 mg/dL. Usual dose: 40-80 mg once daily.

Hypersensitivity. Azathioprine, mercaptopurine or theophylline.

Increased gout flares. Monitor signs & symptoms of MI & stroke. Elevations in liver enzymes. Not recommended in patients w/ increased rate of urate formation. Severe renal & hepatic impairment. Pregnancy & lactation. Childn.
