Indications/Uses
Adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women w/ hormone receptor +ve early invasive breast cancer. Advanced breast cancer in postmenopausal women w/ hormone receptor +ve or hormone receptor unknown locally advanced or metastatic breast cancer.

Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult including elderly 1 mg once daily. Recommended duration of treatment: 5 yr.

Overdosage
View Arimidex overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Premenopausal women; severe renal impairment (CrCl <20 mL/min), moderate or severe hepatic disease. Concomitant use w/ oestrogen-containing therapies & tamoxifen therapy. Pregnancy & lactation.

Special Precautions
Women w/ or at risk of osteoporosis; treatment w/ LHRH analogues. Reduction in bone mineral density in postmenopausal women. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery. Childn.

Adverse Reactions
Hot flushes, asthenia, arthralgia, arthritis, headache, nausea, rash. Vag dryness & bleeding, alopecia, allergic reactions, diarrhoea, vomiting, somnolence, carpal tunnel syndrome, sensory disturbances, increased alkaline phosphatase, alanine & aspartate transaminase, anorexia, hypercholesterolaemia, bone pain, myalgia.

Drug Interactions
Negation of pharmacological action w/ oestrogen-containing therapies. Diminished pharmacological action w/ tamoxifen.
