Dosage/Direction for Use
Cryptococcal meningitis, candidemia, disseminated candidiasis & other invasive candidal infections Adult Initially 400 mg then 200-400 mg once daily. Childn 6-12 mg/kg/day. Prevention of relapse of cryptococcal meningitis in AIDS patients 200 mg daily. Oropharyngeal candidiasis Adult 50 mg once daily for 7-14 days. Childn 3-6 mg/kg/day. Other candidal infections of mucosa 50-100 mg daily for 14-30 days. Vag candidiasis 150 mg as a single oral dose. Prevention of fungal infections in cancer patients Adult 50 mg once daily while the patient is on chemo- or radiotherapy. Childn 3-12 mg/kg/day. Tinea pedis, corporis, cruris 150 mg once a wk or 50 mg once a day for 2-4 wk (6 wk for Tinea pedis). Childn >4 wk Same dose as older childn, 2-4 wk Same dose as older childn 48 hrly, <2 wk Same dose as older childn 72 hrly.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.

Pregnancy, lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, rash.
Drug Interactions
Warfarin, oral sulfonylureas, phenytoin, rifampicin, cyclosporin, theophylline.
