Concise Prescribing Info
Per mL Brimonidine tartrate 2 mg, timolol 5 mg
Reduction of IOP in patients w/ chronic open-angle glaucoma or ocular HTN insufficiently responsive to topical β-blockers.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly 1 drop in the affected eye(s) bid, approx 12 hr apart.
Reactive airway disease eg, bronchial asthma, severe COPD. Sinus bradycardia, 2nd- or 3rd-degree AV block, overt cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock. Neonates. Patient on MAOI therapy, TCAs & mianserin.
Special Precautions
Severe or unstable & uncontrolled CV disease, cardiac failure, severe cardiac disease, asthma, hyperthyroidism, Prinzmetal's angina, severe peripheral & central circulatory disorders & hypotension, diabetes, depression, cerebral or coronary insufficiency, Raynaud's phenomenon, orthostatic hypotension, thromboangiitis obliterans. Gradual w/drawal in patient w/ CHD. Contact lens use. Hepatic or renal impairment. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Pregnancy & lactation, childn or adolescent.
Adverse Reactions
Conjunctival hyperaemia, burning & stinging sensation in the eye, eye pruritus, allergic conjunctivitis, conjunctival folliculosis, visual disturbance, blepharitis, epiphora, corneal erosion, superficial punctate keratitis, eye dryness/discharge/pain/irritation, foreign body sensation. Depression, somnolence, headache, HTN, oral dryness, eyelid oedema/pruritus/erythema, asthenic conditions, abnormal liver function tests.
Drug Interactions
CNS depressants (alcohol, barbiturates, opiates, sedatives or anesth), oral Ca channel blockers, guanethidine, β-blockers, antiarrhythmics, digitalis glycosides or parasympathomimetics, systemic antihypertensives, antidiabetic agents, quinidine, chlorpromazine, methylphenidate, reserpine, adrenergic agonists/antagonists.
