Isosorbide dinitrate
Indications/Uses
Treatment & prophylaxis of angina pectoris.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Tab Treatment 5-20 mg orally qid. Maintenance: 10-40 mg orally qid. Sublingual tab Prophylaxis 1-2 tab sublingually 2-3 hrly.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 30 min before meals.
Contraindications
Severe anemia, closed-angle glaucoma. Avoid sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil.
Special Precautions
Marked symptomatic orthostatic hypotension when used concomitantly w/ Ca channel blockers & nitrates. Pregnancy, lactation, childn.
Adverse Reactions
Headache (large doses), flushing, postural hypotension, drug rash, exfoliative dermatitis.
Drug Interactions
Hypotensive effect enhanced by alcohol, nitrates, β-blocker, antihypertensive agents, sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil.
