HTN of varied etiology & of all grades of severity.
Dosage/Direction for Use
0.5 mg bid-tid for 3-7 days. Adjust dose according to patient's response every 3-7 days. Maintenance: 3-9 mg daily in divided doses bid-tid. Some patients may require 12-15 mg & in rare instances up to 20 mg bid-tid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Starting dose is best taken w/ dinner, at least 2-3 hr before retiring. Maintenance doses may be taken w/ or w/o meals.
Contraindications
CHF due to mechanical obstruction.
Special Precautions
Ischaemic heart disease; impaired liver function; lactation. May affect ability to drive or operate machinery.
Adverse Reactions
Syncope; sudden loss of consciousness; dizziness, drowsiness; headache; palpitations, postural hypotension, edema; dyspnea; nasal congestion, dry mouth; urinary frequency.
C02CA01 - prazosin ; Belongs to the class of alpha-adrenoreceptor antagonists, peripherally-acting antiadrenergic agents. Used in the treatment of hypertension.
