Colistimethate Na equiv to colistin
Indications/Uses
Treatment of acute or chronic infections due to sensitive strains of certain gm -ve bacilli eg, Acinetobacter baumannii, P. aeruginosa, E. coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Citrobacter sp, H. influenza, Salmonella sp, Shigella sp, Proteus sp, Providencia sp, Serratia sp, & some Bordetella sp, Vibrio sp. Nebulization for resp tract infection caused by P. aeruginosa in cystic fibrosis patient. 
Dosage/Direction for Use
2.5-5 mg/kg/day IV or IM in 2-4 divided doses. Max: 5 mg/kg/day.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Renal impairment, nephrotoxicity, pseudomembranous colitis, bronchiolitis.
Adverse Reactions
Decreased urine output, elevated BUN & creatinine, renal failure, resp distress & apnea, tingling of extremities & tongue, slurred speech, dizziness, vertigo, generalized itching, rash, urticaria, fever. 
Drug Interactions
Aminoglycosides, amphotericin B, capreomycin, cephalothin methoxyflurane, polymyxin B sulfate, vancomycin, tubocurarine, succinylcholine, ether, decamethonium, gallamine, Na citrate.
