Omeprazole (Inj: Na)
Indications/Uses
Duodenal & gastric ulcer, reflux esophagitis, hypersecretory conditions (eg, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, multiple endocrine adenomas), aspiration prophylaxis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Cap Duodenal ulcer 1 cap once daily for 4 wk. Gastric ulcer & reflux oesophagitis 1 cap once daily for 4-8 wk. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome 3 cap once daily. Inj 40 mg once daily. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome Initially 60 mg daily. Daily doses >60 mg should be given in 2 divided doses. Aspiration prophylaxis 40 mg IV 1 hr before induction. Continue if the induction is delayed for >2 hr. Hepatic impairment 10-20 mg daily.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Take immediately before a meal.
Special Precautions
Exclude malignancy if gastric ulcer is suspected.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, dizziness, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, rash. Rarely, insomnia, peripheral edema, photosensitivity, vertigo, somnolence, paraesthesia, hypersensitivity reaction, increase liver enzyme.
Drug Interactions
Prolongs elimination of diazepam, warfarin, phenytoin. Increase plasma conc of clarithromycin.

A02BC01 - omeprazole ; Belongs to the class of proton pump inhibitors. Used in the treatment of peptic ulcer and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
