Dosage/Direction for Use
Ulcerative colitis Adult 8-10 tab/day. RA 1st wk: 500 mg daily, 2nd wk: 500 mg bid, 3rd wk: 500 mg in the morning & 1 g in the evening, thereafter 1 g bid.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Ensure adequate fluid intake.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides & salicylates. Acute intermittent porphyria.
Special Precautions
Hepatic or renal impairment; blood dyscrasias; G6PD deficiency.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, anorexia, raised temp; erythema & pruritus; headache. Rarely, hematological, GI, CNS, renal, dermatological reactions.
Drug Interactions
Reduced absorption of folate & digoxin.
