Indications/Uses
Alternative use to oral medication in duodenal & gastric ulcer, reflux oesophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, aspiration prophylaxis, nonvariceal upper GI bleeding.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Recommended dose: 40 mg once daily by inj given slowly over a period of at least 5 min or IV infusion 10-30 min or continuous infusion 8 mg/hr. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome 60 mg once daily. Aspiration prophylaxis 40 mg 1 hr before surgery. Nonvariceal upper GI bleeding 40 mg bid bolus or 80 mg followed by an infusion of 8 mg/hr for 72 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Special Precautions
Gastric ulcer. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Asthenia, dizziness, headache; abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting; back pain, cough, rash, upper resp tract infection.
Drug Interactions
May interact w/ other drugs metabolised by mixed function oxidase. Reduce dose of diazepam, phenytoin & warfarin. Decrease absorption of ketoconazole. Increased plasma conc w/ clarithromycin.

A02BC01 - omeprazole ; Belongs to the class of proton pump inhibitors. Used in the treatment of peptic ulcer and gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
