Anidulafungin
Indications/Uses
Invasive candidiasis including candidemia in adults.
Dosage/Direction for Use
200 mg single loading dose on day 1, followed by 100 mg daily thereafter. Duration of treatment: At least 14 days after last +ve culture or based on patient's clinical response.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to anidulafungin or other echinocandins.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use if anaphylactic reactions occur. Infusion-related events. Monitor for evidence of worsening hepatic function & evaluate for risk/benefit of continuing therapy. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn & adolescents <18 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Hypokalaemia; diarrhoea, nausea. Clostridium colitis, candidiasis; thrombocytopenia, thrombocythaemia; hyperkalaemia, hyperglycaemia, hypomagnesaemia, hypercalcaemia, hypernatraemia; convulsion, headache; atrial fibrillation, ventricular extrasystole; HTN; vomiting, constipation; cholestasis; rash, pruritus; back pain; increased blood creatinine, urea, alkaline phosphatase & bilirubin, alanine & aspartate aminotransferase, abnormal liver function test, decreased blood Mg.
