Diltiazem HCl
Indications/Uses
Management of chronic stable angina, angina due to coronary artery spasm; alone or in combination, for the treatment of HTN.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Angina pectoris 30 mg tid-qid. HTN 60 mg tid.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Patients w/ sick sinus syndrome or 2nd- & 3rd-degree AV block except in the presence of a functioning ventricular pacemaker. Hypotension (<90 mmHg systolic), acute MI, pulmonary congestion. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Prinzmetal's angina. Worsening of CHF in patients w/ preexisting impairment of ventricular function; impaired renal or hepatic function.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, ankle edema, hypotension, dizziness, flushing, nausea, GI disturbances, mild & transient rash, erythema multiforme or exfoliative dermatitis, transient elevations in liver enzyme values, hepatitis, CV or CNS effects.
Drug Interactions
β-blockers, digitalis, cimetidine, anesth, cyclosporins, carbamazepine.
